I am enjoying summer, but the stores have begun showing off the latest trends for fall and I saw my first back to school sale sign last weekend. Now is the time to buy the hot trends for fall while some of last seasons wares are on sale and the new stuff has just arrived in stores. This will give you the optimal selection to choose from in both sizes and price point.

The top must haves for men this fall.

1) The Plaid Shirt

This is a hot commodity for fall and looks chic right now. Leave it un-tucked for the coolness factor and never wear them with khaki's or you'll look like a computer science engineer. For a casual and hip vibe choose a style with asymmetrical plaid design or one with a large print. If you are more classic and preppy, select a smaller more traditional pattern.

Choosing a plaid shirt with short sleeves allows you to wear the shirt now and get more use out of it. In the fall you can layer it with a long sleeve v-neck tee shirt and a blazer. If you decide on long sleeves you can roll up the sleeves and wear it open with a v-neck for a casual look.

To dress it up pair a plaid shirt with coordinating solid color tie and a blazer. For fun you can wear the tie loosened around your neck and the top buttons unbuttoned for a "I just got off work and I'm ready to hit the town" look.

2) Dark Grey Denim

Dark denim is still in. Buy jeans in dark blue and black. But be sure to get some grey jeans. These jeans look sexy in a whole new way. they are very urban and chic for fall. Remember to cuff them for a fun look. Also in are men's styles of denim that appear to be more of a dress pant or trouser than jeans.

3)The non- athletic street shoe.

My favorite brands for men are Lacoste, Diesel and good ole Chucks.search for a pair that kind of remind you of bowling shoes but with out the ugly factor. You can also look for a pair of low top tennis shoes with out a lot of bulk.

4) Get a time piece other than your cell phone

Get an over sized watch. Men buy a watch! It is sexy and appealing to check the time on your wrist instead of your phone. And it says to your employer " I care about punctuality and I am a mature man who won't be texting every 5 minutes." I am loving the rose gold and white porcelain styles Michael Kors came out with this year.

5) A Wool Blazer

A wool Blazer with a funky detail. these jackets are great because you can use them as outerwear and indoors.

6) Scarves

They are soft and warm and you look sexy in them so don't be afraid to cuddle up with one.

7) Facial hair.
Grow out your goatee a little 5 o'clock shadow, some scruff is sooo sexy on you. And it will help keep your face warm too. Please do not go mountain man on us though that's just disgusting. Doesn't Jake look handsome? (trust me, He does!!! and all the ladies are enjoying that picture right now.)

8) Layer. Layer. Layer.

Layering is stylish. weather its a tee shirt peeking out from a shirt collar or a hoodie hanging out from under a leather jacket or your new wool blazer. Layering adds warmth and screams style. I like this asymmetrical hoodie from Urban Outfitters.

I was driving around town the other day doing errands, you know the usuall, groceries, filling the gas tank, G. T. L. :) I decided to stop into Nords Rack to see if they had any great deals. I saw a bag that caught my eye. It was a super pretty bag with a rose gold leather detail and it had a gold chain handle. Two trends I know are pretty hot right now so I snagged it. later when I got home I did some research and I am sooooo excited about this bag. Everyone who reads my blog knows how much I love SJP!!!! well I just learned (late for a fashionista) that Sara Jessica Parker is the president and creative director for Halston Heritage. Halston Heritage is the new diffusion line launched in 2009. SJP wore a few of teh inagural designs on teh set of the Sex and teh city 2 set. It is inspired by the Halston archives and the glamourous fashion of the 1970's studio 54 crowd. Described as retro-chic the clothes are effortlessly elegant and fun.

I read the ELLE article a while ago, when they announced that SJP had a new line, but what I didn't know is how affordable her line would be. When she took on her first fashion job creating a line for Steve and Barry's I was diaspointed by the lack of quality and luxury in the clothes. This venture is nothing like that one. My bag is a sumptuous leather with a weighty gold chain, and soft cotton lining. The dust bag is even luxurious. It makes you feel like you have something special on your arm. ARM CANDY :) The bag was originally $400 and I scored it for $99!!!! even if you pay full price they're about the same cost as Coach, Marc by Marc Jacobs and the Juicy Couture brand bags. If I ever get to meet SJP I want her to sign it. You know me I don't get all excited about sports or go to concets and chant Lady Gaga's name. But fashion... that I get excited about and SJP is my fashion icon. So this bag is kismit! It totally makes up for the Dolce bag i passed up several years ago and never stopped dreaming of and it makes up for my Marc Jacobs yellow bag debockle too. Im sooo happy to take this lill girl home and put her in my closet with her new family of designer duds.

They say nude is the new black. Nude accessories are modern and sophisticated. They scream sexy because you look… well, nude. Think about it, a nude belt at first glance say’s my middrift is showing and causes men to take a second glance. Lace over-layed on nude fabric makes people stop in their tracks and ask themselves “does she have something on under that.” The Sex and The City character Carrie Bradshaw made the “naked dress” an icon.

The Spring 2011 runway was a study in minimalism. The minimalist trend was the most prominant trend on the runway. Designers like Chloe, Jil Sander, Max Mara, Celine , Calvin Klein and Helmut Lang all showcased nude, simplistic designs with clean, sleek lines. The key components of achieving a minimalist look are to utilize a limited color palette and sleek basic geometric shapes to create something fresh and sophisticated.

Celebraties have been wearing nude shoes on the red carpet with bright onsombles for the past few seasons. I love this look. Wearing nude tone shoes makes your legs look longer and slimmer. The shoe doesn’t pop at first glance so it keeps the focus on the dress.

To achieve this look find shoes in nude tones that match or complement your skin tone. For spring and summer look for strappy sandals, pumps and wedges.

Follow these tips for your skin tone

For pale skin choose shoes in shades of Ivory, light taupe and soft pink in any material. Natural linen looks great with this skin tone. These shades also look amazing in suede.

For darker medium tan to olive tones choose a shoe in tan, camel or medium taupe. Look for shoes in patent leather the shine will make the shoe look more nude than tan. You can also get shoes made from nubuck leather, cork, hemp or other natural materials.

For dark brown complexions this trend is tricky, but you can pull it off . Brown shoes just look like brown shoes so simply matching your skin color won’t say “nude.” In order to pull this off look for a shimery patent leather brown shoe with plumb or copper undertones. Keep the outfit up top neutral as well. Make sure the the colors of your clothes are “brown friendly” olive green, tans, white, and other natural/minamalist colors work best. The other way for women with a dark complexion to wear the nude trend is to ignore the match your skin tone rule and wear traditionally nude colors of soft pink and light cafe colors. The constrast of “nude” with dark brown skin is undeniably sexy. If you go this route you can wear bright colors with your “nude” shoes.

Garden Theme Baby Shower

This Baby Shower was a gift to a very special friend. She is expecting her first baby, a girl this spring. The baby's room is decorated with flowers, butterflys and lady bugs in the color scheme of chocolate brown, pink and green. I chose a palatte of Chocolate brown, hot pink, light pink and lime green for the shower decorations to mirror the babys room. "The father to be" works with his parents at the family run nursery. Since we decided on a garden theme we were able to borrow plants to help make the space special and fun.

Human sex trafficking is a serious issue. Portland OR was recently rated number one in sex trafficking.

Women from churches spanning Gresham, Portland and Beaverton have come together to do something about it.

"To bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair..." Isaiah 61:3

The sisters adorned in grace fashion show will take place March 12 at the Grace Community Church in Gresham, OR. At the sale following the show, patrons can purchase wedding gowns, prom dresses and accessories as well as shoes from the shoe revolt. There will also be a silent auction featuring spa treatments, and other donations from local buisnesses. All proceeds benefit the Door to Grace Shelter.

The fashion show, featuring Miss Oregon 2007 Kari Virding (now Christensen) as master of ceremonies, will be held at Grace Community Church in Gresham on March 12, 2011. Doors will open at 6:00 pm. The evening will include a silent auction, fashion show with dessert, and a dress sale after the show. All gowns will be provided by Adorned in Grace, a local bridal and formalwear shop whose proceeds benefit Door to Grace. The shop will set up a large portion of their inventory, offering guests a variety of styles and sizes. The amount paid for each dress, can be written off as a tax deductible donation.

Our beloved city of Portland, Oregon is a scenic city generously dotted with green spaces, parks and fountains. Portland throws her arms wide with sophisticated small town charm, bike paths, coffee shops, tinkling copper bubblers and a Christmas tree in the square. We affectionately call her the City of Roses, a bouquet tied with the ribbon of the Willamette River.

Sadly, Portland’s bloom hides a thorn that we share with a growing number of American cities, a place where younger and younger girls are being sold for sex. A port city on the I-5 corridor running from Canada to Mexico, a favorite home to teenage runaways and few laws restricting pornography make our beautiful city an easy choice for sex traffickers. Portland’s free spirit and compassionate heart were never meant to harbor oppression and slavery.

However, today we discover slavery has returned to our modern times with hidden shackles. Vulnerable young girls are enslaved in a world of drugs, pornography, violence and sex for sale or survival. Door to Grace was founded as a door to freedom for girls forced into the sex trade by vulnerability and violence, force and fear. Please join us in extending hearth and home to a hurting girl right here in our hometown of Portland, Oregon.

Our goal- To restore life to rescued children.

When we became aware of the growing problem of our youth being sold for sex, our hearts were broken. Some among us had traveled around the globe to bring hope and healing to children in other countries. Returning home, we awoke to the truth of sexual slavery for many children in America and in our own beautiful city of Portland, Oregon. Add to this awareness the tragic reality that even when rescued from the street, there is no place to take these kids for safety and healing. We knew our calling was to restore these broken lives by providing a safe place for healing with a home atmosphere, professional services and the miracle of grace.

Therefore, the unique mission of Door To Grace is to “restore life to rescued children” by:

•Opening a safe shelter for rescued children

•Demonstrating Christ’s plan for restoration

•Serving the church in it role of restoring life to children and adults

THOUGHTS ON A NAME

Our original thoughts on the name “Door to Grace” came from prayer and scripture. The name was meant to evoke a warm welcome home, an opening to freedom, hope, healing, truth and grace, grace from others and God’s special grace in Christ.

OUR PROGRAM

To date, few safe home programs have been found in operation that serve victims of domestic minor sex trafficking (DMST). Because there is no “best practice” model already in existence, much effort and research is taking place at Door to Grace in order to create a well-informed program model that will be grounded in both Christian theology and in mental / behavioral health science in order to best meet the needs of this unique population. Door to Grace will provide a safe home and comprehensive services to minor victims of sex trafficking, and will collaborate with churches and other community groups to provide long-term support and services to residents who leave Door To Grace for as long as they desire support. The program will include the following components:

•It will be located in a rural or semi-rural setting

•It will provide safety and home-like community to the girls

•Security will include protection from outside access only (the children will not be locked in)

•Medical services will include basic health, dental care, medications, supervised medical de-toxification

•Therapy services will include case management, addiction treatment, trauma therapy, individual and group therapy

•Personal development opportunities will include life skills training, basic education (toward GED), recreation activities, creative therapy, job training, individual and group training, legal assistance, and spiritual development

•The program will have multiple development stages

•Staff will include two full-time, round-the clock care/case managers

HOME SWEET HOME~Beau Salon

As Carrie Bradshaw said in SATC2 " I've been cheating on fashion with furniture." Oh so true. This is the final installment of home sweet home my apartment is finally furnished. The dinning room is simple, 3 parts quirky and 8 parts sophisticated. But I think it is a fun space for me to eat and sew.

I love to cook and I love to entertain. I wanted to create a simple and open space to eat in. Bon appetit mon cheri," loosly translates to "enjoy your food, my darling" it's the perfect wall piece to make the space a dinning room with high style. The filigree frame is so chic and fun. a great find from IKEA for around 30 bucks.

Thisdinning set included 4 chairs, but I like the uncluttered s implicity of using two. It looks like an inviting table for two is a romantic cafe in Paris. I can bring in the other chairs when I need them and use them on the back porch for dinning outside the rest of the time.

These prints were given to me by a friend who went to Paris. The feature the drawings of famous artist Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, who created the advertising posters for the moulin Rouge. I used this black filigree shelf to showcase some of my hobnail milk glass collection and porcelin.

The kitchen has been a fun place to cook. The major appliances are stainless steel and the counters are granite. I just have a few decorations in there to keep the overall theme of the space. Yellow teal and red pop in the otherwise neutral space. The yellow pops with the lemons, the kitchen rug and the tea kettle. Pops of teal accent the space with teal towels, artwork and dishware. The small kitchen appliances like the toaster and blender are red and chrome. I also have some red artwork and ceramic in the space.

HOME SWEET HOME~ The lounge

For my living room I wanted a space that I could relax in that was also suitable for entertaining guests. I wanted it to be comfortable and fun. I chose to go with neutrals of black, white and grey and I wanted to accent with a single color. I debated about red, which seemed too expected. I played with the idea of using yellow and finally landed on teal. Various teal accents including, a vase, lamp shades, a throw, pillows, a teal frame and the use of teal paint in several of the art peices pull the room together. The result is a cool unique room. I have a rather large (and) growing collection of original artwork and it was important to me to showcase as much of my collection as possible without overwhelming the color palate of the room. Future plans for the space include a mirrored cabinent for the TV that will double as a bar. Possibly painting the walls a light teal blue and the addition of an accent chair.

The sofa is a modern shape covered with a soft dove grey velvet. West Elm.

The far corner of the room features a collection of art that represents natural history in a mixed hodge podge of frames in gilded gold, silver and modern black.

Shelf detail one: The book case from ikea was inexpensive and is home to my favorite books. It is important to get rid of clutter and keep your books down to a minimum so that the space is not overwhelmed. To keep the display interesting I mixed in some of my collections to decorate the shelves. I brought these inlayed boxes home with me from a trip to Israel. The shells were collected from all my travels. I found most of them myself on an actuall beach which makes them extra special.

Shelf detail two: In the forground of this shelf I placed a family photo and a beloved sculpture. Yes that is me when I was one day old.

Grouping like artwork together on a wall helps to showcase your collection. Here I have grouped my pop art collection. I used various frames to play with proportions, texture and color.

The symetry created by flanking the paining with coordinating lamps draws your eye to the painting creating a focal point in the room. I did not want the focal point of the room to be the TV, so I kept it small and I hope to later up grade to a cabinent where the TV can be hidden inside when not in use.

I'm sad... I love all things Asian inspired and I have always wanted a bonzai tree ever since i saw Karate Kid age 7. I got it this summer at a street fair and loved it. When I got my new place I put it in my home to display it's beauty. I kept meaning to put it back outside and "forgot" Heres some important advice to all bonzai lovers-to keep a bonzai alive all you have to do is leave it outdoors and let it be a tree. It is not a house plant, it's that simple. I will do better on my next attempt for now I guess it's going to go to the little japaneese garden in the sky. Saionara little one.

Neutrals... are an important foundation to any wardrobe. I have been in love with grey since college and it is funny that it is now the IT color for fall. I choose it as my fave neutral because I can not wear khacki well since my skin is the same color. White gets dirty easily and black.... well lets just say I have a pomeranian nuf said.

As I get ready to move into my apartment I am pulling together the look for my space with this amazing grey sofa. It will set off the yellow and teal room decor I have picked to accent the space. I am really into topiaries right now I think they really complement my style and add some greenery into the room. I am currently working on a table-scape using topiaries and some of my sculptural elements to create an inviting entrance way. I haven't quite figured out the balance yet.

On the last thursday of every month NE Alberta street hosts a huge arts and craft sidewalk sale. Hundreds of people turn out for dancing in the street, good food, and an all around celebration of the arts. Independent artisans sell their wares at affordable rates and street performers liven up the scene with a multitude of creative talent. While on Vacation in sunny San Diego's Coronado Island I had the opportunity to check out a few shops and came across this cute boutique. Orange Blossoms is located on the main walking street of Coronado Island. The boutique offers a selection of fashions for children, girls and women. I loved the whimsy of the decor used in the boutique. Other items for sale included lots of accessories, home goods, trendy novelties and some beauty products. The boutique also offers a wide selection of great gift ideas. I enjoyed the photography on display from local photagraphers as well. I highly recomend this boutique if you are visiting coronado Island in the future.

Bird Themed Baby Shower

I recently planned a baby shower for a friend. She wanted to wait untill the baby was born to find out the sex so the typical blue or pink decorations were definatly not going to make an appearence. After consulting with her she chose cool colors. I went with a lemon yellow, lime green and tourquoise blue because they are summery colors and can be used for both boy and girl colors. I wanted bright, happy and vibrant colors because they are fun and make more of an impact on the space.

A baby shower is about blessing the mother to be with all the little things she and the new baby are going to need once the bundle of joy enters the world. Birds gather things to make their nests more comfortable for their baby birds this is the process of "nesting." So I thought it was appropriate to have a bird theme seeing as how she was nesting in her home making a space for the baby. Birds are very beautiful and it was not hard to find a plethera of inspiration. I also worked in a sub-theme with the polka dots which were echoed in the napkins, placemats, ribbons on the bird cage, the cupcake wrappers and the party favor bags. I browsed the web and the stores and came up with dozens of ideas that we didnt even use because to do so would have been way over our budget and also a little over kill. What I did use filled the room with lots of beautiful details and made the shower extra special. The entire budget for the event including decorations, food, game supplies and party favors came to about $140.00

Party Favors

Nests were scattered through out the room full of Jordan almonds and other fun snacks such as these bird shaped crackers. The father's name is Jordan. I felt this was a fun touch.

I coordinated with the caterer to create food that coplemented the bird theme. We offered a brunch menu which included marinated bacon, vegitable and potato scramble, fruit salad and quish. We also Offered Iced Coffees and a punch made with pinapple sherbert, 7-up and orange juice. Below: Cupckakes with coconut
nests and blue berry "eggs" nested on top.

Bagels for the birds... Left nutella and pecans, Right Pumpkin,sunflower and poppy seeds grace the tope of a bagel with cream cheese spread.

Fall will be here before you know it and I always like to get my shopping in early when the pre season sales hit the stores. When going on vacation it is important to take with you the clothes you love. It doesn't matter if they are brand new, new to you or old favorites. The goal is for you to look your best while having the time of your life. I always pack a mixture of styles so I will be prepared for anything that may cross my path. I may be going on a beach vacation and think all I will need is beach attire, but you may end up wanting to go hiking or horse back ridding when you get there so its always a good idea to pack a pair of jeans and tennis shoes. On my most recent trip to San Diego we wanted to go to a fancy dinner. I had packed a cocktail dress and a sequin bag just incase. I didnt have to feel out of place in one of the nations most beautiful and luxurious hotels. It is also good to remember that if you dress nice when you travel you can sometimes get bumped up to first class.

I always pack an extra bag in case I go shopping on the trip which invariably always happens. I like my Lesport Sac over nighter bag. It squishes nicley in between all my belongings on the way there taking up as little room as possible. The best part, you dont have to worry about it loosing its shape.

I also like to pack a big beach bag so I can carry mags and towles to the beach. This neon leapard bag is from Forever 21. Swim Suit Alean Simone, Sarong Old navy scarf its wide and long enough to cover you. For beach sandles its fun to rock an old pair mettalic leather sandles. Its unexpected and more fashion forward than rubber flip flops.

Of course you will also want to pack an assortment of tops, crops, shorts and skirts or dresses for your day time activities. Here are four looks I took with me

Ahhhh Summer is finally here! Now that June-uary is finally over its time to go camping, BBQ, Boating and get a tan. Im off to san diego for the weekend. I'm looking forward to the US Grant Hotel, H&M, In & Out, The beach, the beautiful Garden at balboa Park and Our 4th of July BBQ at the condo on Coronado. I think I packed 12 pairs of shoes oops. But you never know what your going to need right? This is my last hurah before I start my 7 week program of a strict meal plan. Im planning on eating all the fruit I can find ha ha.

The road to a beautiful Life

I always say if you want a beautiful life you have to be willing to let go of the uglyness. That goes for that ugly lamp somone gave you, the ugly pair of sweat pants you wouldent dare wear in public, Ugly habbits smoking, cursing drinking to much. Toxic people, anger, resentment, the past... all these things if held onto prevent us from achiving that fabulous apartment, the perfect wardrobe and a happy spirit. Am I right? If you hold on to any of that stuff... well you will have closets full of stuff you don't use, or really shouldent be using. and internally your have a heart full of baggage and pain with a fake plastic smile plastered on the outside. Sister Let it all go. Over the past year I have been letting it all go. It started when I lost, what I thought was my DREAM JOB. I then Lost my dream home and it went on from there. At first I was devastated but I chose to look at it as a new begenning. An opportunity to start over. I have spent this last year purging things from my life and bringing things into my life I WANT rather than settling for what I already have... and doing it all purposfully.

My first step was getting rid of boxes and boxes of stuiff...clothes, shoes, bags, books and ugly nick nacks others had given me. We hang onto a lot of stuff because it was given to us by others... don't we. I am obsessed with shows like clean house, Burried alive, and hoaders. People's lives are really controlled by stuff and I wanted freedom to move to London or New York if I wanted to. so goodbye stuff. Now obviouly Im still a fashionista so you know I didnt purge my closet too much. everything I love or could love again stayed. But I got rid of stuff I never wear and shouldent be wearing. I gave clothes to those less fortunate, sold some at re-sale shops, and helped out dress for sucsess so women can get jobs. I have realized how blessed I am and what I have is valuable to me. I have more space in my closet for all the things I love and will someday acquire. I got rid of all the house hold stuff I didn't need and I sold all my post college furniture. I made a design plan for my future home. So now I have a list of items I know I will buy over a space of time and build up to that final look I want to achive when I have a nice place of my own. For now bits and peices grace my rental and everyday I am reminded of my goals.

As much as it depends on you strive to be at peace with others, with yourself and with God. I had held onto so many relationships because I feared being alone. I had held onto people who were negative and toxic and bad influence because I was loyal and didnt want to have the ackward conversation or feel like I was abandoning people in need. I had to learn to set boundaries and not take on others problems as my own. Im highly compassionate and I often found that in my former job I would bring work home with me and toss and turn all night worriing about my kids and their families. I was stressed out to the max. I learned that I had to let go and let God. I gave up dating. I gave up men and sex. I was trying to get married ha ha and It wasnt bringing in the dream guy, but a lot of loosers. I needed to stop and be ok with just being alone and finding myself. I started surounding my self with positive caring people with a genuine love form me. rather than focussing on mass amounts of people I took solitude to a new level and sought out fewer more meaningful relationships.

When I lost my job My financesbecame a HOT TRANNY MESS .. ha ha. But rather than pretend theyre ok I am choosing to let go and let God. He will help me figure it out. I'm getting financhal counceling and help and support to work it all out in the near future.
So far I think wow thats a huge ovehaul but there was one more thing I didnt le t myself think about untill I got a call...

My Grandmother is dying. she is 89. she has lived a pretty amazing and long life. Death makes you think. I realized after I said my goodbyes to my grandma that mine is half over. I think my life is half over? at 32? I expect to die at 60-63 my life expectancy is not good.

Over the years I have been a plus isze advocate, a fashion consultant and wardrobe stylist and I have resigned myself to be a happy, healthy and vibrant Plus size woman, BBW whatever you want to call it. a happy fat girl. I wanted to show the world that a big woman can be happy confident and secure... and well dressed ;). For years I was happy and entergetic and content at a size 20. I had an accident that hurt my spine and my hips and I have gone from being a size 20 to a 26. I still tried to be that girl... happy.

But in the back of my mind there were little disapointments. Times where I would realize that every pound I gained was like loosing another a peice of myself. I couldent hike up a mountain like I used to. Traveling has become harder. I cant walk for hours and hours and explore a city. There are times I long for a chanel suit or a marc jacobs dress and know it will never happen. Knowing I cant ride a horse like I used to, or ride a bike as far as I would like to go. I know I want children and the doctor told me how my weight would prevent me from becomming pregnant, I want to get married and be the most beautiful person in the wedding party... but I know that the dress selection for girls like me is like looking for fine china at walmart. and if I did have kids how sad that I wouldent be able to run around with them and play. I refused to think about all of these things I had lost. I chose to make the best of what I had. I know a lot of it is because of my injury it just takes time to heal but my weight isnt helping the healing process and it's the weight that makes me look different than I did. Makes people stare. makes me feel socially ackward and unwelcome. Makes me feel heavy.. and makes my jeans dig into my skin and leave red marks. I dont want to live this way... indefinatley.

Maya Angelou once said "to survive is necessary, to thrive is elegant." I want to thrive. I want to be happy and to see all my dreams come true. I dont want to live the rest of my life with the expectantcy of an early death. I choose life and life more abundantly. Recently I fasted for 7 days. I have never done this before but it showed me that I can have self control. If I can go with no food I can definatley limit my intake. i fear it may not work but Im going to try. If we are faithful to pursue good, God is faithful to complete that work in us. My body is my temple so the Lord said and as I sat in church and listened for the call of missionaries to go to Haiti to help the poor my spirit felt moved to serve and realized my body would prevent me from really being a help to them. I felt, I would just slow everyone down and be an extra burden to the team and that's when I realized what I had done to my body. When The body interupts the call of the lord on your life. When it prevents you from finding true love and enjoying the things you love, Fashion... the outdoors... travel... It's time to make a BIG change.

My grandmother often pleaded with me to loose weight, she wanted me to live a long and happy life. So in honor of her, In pursiut of my hopes and dreams and all the hopes I put aside in the trash can of imposibility. I am going to change my life. Someone told me that if I lost the weight they would buy me a chanel handbag. This has always been a dream of mine to own one so we will see

Begining The second week in July I am embarking on a 7 month journey to loose 5 lbs a week. A total of 150 pounds to be in my healthy BMI Range. I will bring you updates and thoughts from my journey. I am still the happy confident woman, I will still bring you style advice and continue to feature plus size women on street beat.

I hope my story and complete honesty encourages you to take the necessary steps toward a happy life whatever it looks like for you. Freedom is having the ability to choose your own path The feminist movement was meant to give women options to work if they wanted to or needed to. we often defend our choices by putting down others choices. that is not and will never be my heart for you. Rain. Rain. oh its sunny? no its going to rain. Sheesh! if your anything like me your all but annoyed at the forcast. For the fashionista at heart Spring is our run way. Here are two of my favorite bags in my personal collection. Not only are they beautiful, but they are sturdy, I can carry them hands free and I love the convenience of the outside pockets. The items I need to reach easily (cell phone, Car keys, lipstick and mirror) are at my finger tips so i don't have to waste time looking for the things I use most often. Its so great because I never loose my car keys in the bottom of a dark bag or have to dump out the entire contents of bag to find a pen. I get lots of compliments on my green bag because of the bright color, but what most people notice is that the bag has a mini clutch on the outside which they always seem to have been wishing for in a bag.

A CHARMED LIFE

I found this picture in the Harpers Bazaar magazine (March 2010, page 196) and

I thought, this is the perfect idea to put to use all the charms and pendents I have collected over the years. It belongs to one of the members of the Missoni Family, Margherita.

I used a solid brass chain from Ace hardware. The charms are a collection of old pendants, semiprecious beads, my grandmas watch and even an asian coin a cherished friend gave me.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

You will need wire cutters, 2 pair of plyers, a yard of chain in your choice of material. You will also need head pins, Jump rings and an assortment of charms and beads.

HOW TO

Step 1- take the chain and decide the length you want your necklace to be. If you make it long enough to fit over your head it will be a stronger necklace and you wont have to deal with using a clasp.

Step two- You will not need to cut the chain. All Chain links have an open side. Simply take one pair of the plyers and hold the chin link you want to detach with the plyers. With the other pair of plyers pull the link apart. Use the open link to attach both ends of the chain to make a circle. Close the link using the same method.

Step 3- Take some of the extra chain length and make a second tier. Decide where you want it to fall on your chest. Use the same method in step to to make the attachment.

Step 4-Keep the extra chain length handy. You will use the links to attach charms to your necklace. Now you are ready to start applying your charms and beads. Some charms will have big enough hols for you to use your chain link to attach them to your necklace, others won't. In these cases use a jump ring to attach charms with smaller holes, then use extra links to attch to your necklace. If you want to attach beads take a head pin and poke it through the hole. Make a loop at the top and use a chain link to attach it to your necklace.

If you are like me. You want clothes that reflect the current trends from the seasons runway shows. I am inspired by the runway and the energetic pulse of the fashion industry. The designer collections are expensive and out of reach for most of us. As a plus size woman however they are virtually unattainable. Alas I must find other ways of making my wardrobe fashion forward and relevant. I mix high and low cost garments and accessories to achieve my own personal style. In addition I do my research, I flip through all the major fashion magazines, I watch the major runway shows and shop around to get an idea of what is available to me and what the trends are. I take notes as I am doing my research. I note the trends and look for them in my current wardrobe. Trends are often recycled every few years. So something you bought 3 years ago may be a hot item again in a few years. I rarley throw anything away. When I do shop I look for items that hit several of the trends so I get more bang for my buck. Here are several plus size trend hitting suggestions. Brooch-ing the subject

Your grandmother knew they were in good taste. Michelle Obama knows it too. Ladies bring back the brooch. Where have you hidden them? You know, those gaudy pins you inherited from your mom that you swore you would never wear. They are HOT right now so you may want to eat your words. The brooch is no longer an elders only accessory. Pile them on your lapel. Pin one to a fabric headband or tie a ribbon around your waste and pin a brooch on the bow for a sassy belt. You can also add one to your hand bag. For a fun DIY project pin several coordinating brooches to a fat chain for a chunky one of a kind necklace.

Storage ideas. I store mine on a fabric board. This way I get to enjoy my collection everyday even when I am not wearing them. If you prefer to store them out of sight you can buy ice trays and place each brooch in a separate compartment. This will keep them from clanging into each other and becoming damaged.

The Best designer Seth Aaron- why? because he stays true to his own sense of style, his designs are unique. Each garment is a new fresh take. He has skills and his workmanship is apparent. I think he is the only designer that has successfully made a variety of pieces from dresses, jackets, trousers, skirts and accessories. He is not limited by skill or vision. There is a world market for his iconic looks.
Worst designer Ping- she was just weird... IDK how she even made it on the air let alone past episode 1
Jay second runner up for greatest attitude- he's such a cute boy and I love how he dresses

I got to thinking the other day, why do you see so many boring black umbrellas everywhere. A beautiful umbrella makes you happy no matter how dreary the weather is. I love pooch couture. Nita has an entire wardrobe. She has polo's and tees. Sweat shirts, a rain jacket, and a dozen dresses. She also has a blue satin prom dress, a Mrs Claus outfit and just recently she was given a Kimono that someone got her in Japan

I love my pomeranian, Nita she's just the sweetest and most well behaved dog I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. How fun would that be to have her in the bridal party. Ha.

I just found a new shop I like. It had a lot of really cool stuff for the home. It is as if I hand picked everything that was going into the store. Among my favorite items is this ceramic deer head. I have been looking all over the internet for a fake deer head. I always wanted to mount one in my closet or entry way to hang necklaces and hats on. They also have a moose head. I think it brings a modern twist to a classic home icon. It is fun and whimsical and you don't have think about the creepy aspects of taxidermy.

I really love teal. It is such a beautiful and relaxing color. It reminds me of a tropical shore line , of the summer sky, the feathers of exotic birds, beautiful stones of topaz, aqua marine, and turquoise. The amazing thing about this color is that it looks good on everyone. If you have pale skin or dark skin. It looks good on you if you have red hair, blond hair or you are a brunette. it is appropriate if you are young or old, male and female, human or even canine. It will look good on anyone. You cant go wrong with teal.

I think that teal is often expected in the summer months. It seems like a color that is often found on teeshirts and swimsuits. It is unexpected in outer wear- these pictures below are inspiring- I totally want a teal coat for fall... right?

How about teal accessories that is another source for the unexpected. I love this watch or you bring some teal into your wardrobe with your shoes or handbag as an accent color. I love teal eyeshadow- it also looks good on everyone.
Teal walls are so chic and really make a room relaxing. The cool thing about teal is that while it is a shade of blue, it is still cheery. It is a happy color. It doesn't make the room gloomy or sad, so you get the same relaxing vibe but with an upbeat happy feeling.
You all know Yellow is my favorite color. Teal makes a great counterpart to yellow. I love the teal accents on this dress and the accessories really make the yellow pop.
I love this damask pillow- teal and white is so pretty. Think Tiffany blue box with a white bow. Summer is coming lots of you will be rockin the white dress try pairing it with teal accessories.
You can wear teal with pretty much any color white, pink, yellow, brown, tan, black and green. It is a pretty versatile color. Be creative. Take a risk. Have fun.

For the love of birds

The dinning area is the most important part of the home. You want it to be inviting and calm. This dinning area is a clean slate. You will want to select a table and chairs that you like and go from there to build your room. I personally also like to have a side board in the dinning area so that you can store extra dish ware and place extra food and wine nearby. I love the chair rails in this room because they will protect the wall from the chairs and also provide the space some sophistication. I would paint the chair rails teal with white moulding and trim and leave the upper wall white or paint it a lighter blue. There are some cool wall papers you could use as well. I like the aspen tree wall paper at the bottom of the page.

A themed Dinning area is always fun. I was inspired by the peacock dish ware I saw at anthropologie (below). to keep it from looking hoaky I am sticking to a simple color palate of white, black and teal.

On your side board you can decorate apothecary jars filled with things that remind you of nature. Live plants, eggs etc.
Or use porcelin bird sculptures or dishware with birds on them

If you want to go all out do your walls with wall paper- My idea is to do teal chair rails with white trim and put wall paper on the top half of the wall. One thing I like about this wall paper is that is is light it wont make the room dark. I like wall paper because it ties in your theme and also serves as art. you wont need any pictures in the room which will help to keep it calm and uncluttered. You can break up the design with a mirror. Which will also reflect light back into the room. As in the dinning room above the windows also bring light into the dinning room. I hate blinds so I would opt for teal curtains

Liberty of London was established in 1875 by Arther Liberty. The shops orignal location stood at 218 regent street and is still there to this day. The shop became the most popular and chic place to shop in London. Famous for their textiles which are used in clothing and furniture the fashion house also creates fabric for used by famous designers. In 2005 they launched the luxury accessories brand "Liberty of London" which operates under the creative direction of tamara Salman.

Today Target Launched their Liberty of london line. It was pretty much sold out in every store by 1:00 pm. The products online are pretty much sold out as well., stating " the item is no longer available." Not to fret target will re-order and you can shop to your hearts content.

as you can see they are staying true to the art nouveau style and beautiful florals that made them famous. The price point falls between 19.99- 9.99 for most everything pictured. The bikes are 199.99 which is really affordable for a beach cruiser. The bedding sets run at about 49-69 depending on the size you choose. This stuff is set at an amazing price point. The sales lady at target set that the stuff flew off the shelves like it was gold and that people began lining up at the store at 3 am.

They also have a number of adorable dresses for baby, toddlers, young girls and women. Ties and boxers for men. There are also scarves, shoes, umbrellas and swimsuits. In short I had a blast exploring the new line. Congratulations Target on a genius partnership. May you all enjoy the splendid plunder
