An affair to remember

This summer I had the pleasure if planning a 60th birthday party for twins. It was quite an event. No expense was spared. it took me a month to plan from top to bottom everything was coordinated and placed by the Alean Simone Events, Style and Design team.

This is the buffet table. 

I made a half dozen flower arrangements for the party. 

The entrance to the party was lined with lanterns and balloons. The hostess has a beautiful garden.

Some of the other decorations around the yard included these Pom pins hanging from large yard umbrellas and canopies.

For seating we rented  large tables and lots of chairs. It was beautiful next tithe greenhouse that glowed with candle light in the evening.

We had the event catered. The food was beautifully displayed and delicious.

The cupcakes were delicious and had a lovely assortment of flavors and fillings.

Fall Trends 2013

This Fall there are so many new items you must incorporate into your wardrobe. The army green jacket, anything with leather or leatherette details, especially a full skirt. Army boots, studded? even better. The plaid dress, hair wraps with bows, blue and green metallic polishes, Colbalt blue anything. Black accessories with gold hardware. Animal print anything especially the cat prints MEOW!!! graphic animal prints, something quilted and something with an eye. I see you standin there, wow nice look girl!

Its a Jungle Out There

Jungle Theme Baby Shower.

I planned helped plan this baby shower for a dear friend who was expecting a boy. We kept it simple.

The decorations were pretty fun. we tried to keep the budget pretty small. using only items that we could purchase at the dollar store. here you see our jungle vines and monkeys hanging from our balloon coconuts.

The host had this wall art so we made dicot letters from the jungle theme cricket cassette and turned it into a sign.

we had dozens of monkeys hanging around for this party. Each guest got to take one home.

This is the table where we put gifts. This monkey is waiting for them.

Rustic Wedding Bliss

The Happy Couple.

I met Joy at the Adorned in Grace fashion show I volunteered at. She had the winning bid for my silent auction item of styling and planning her wedding .

 

 

When Joy first came to me she had these plain bird houses and said that she wanted her wedding to be vintage and rustic. I brainstormed for days looking for ways to make these two words come together. It occurred to me that she didn't want the traditional vintage lacy Victorian sense of the word, but the vintage as in old looking and country chic vintage you find at flea markets.

I had fun tromping through the woods looking for moss, lichen and bark to put on these bird houses. I stained them with watered down, olive green paint so that the grain of the wood would come through.

She didn't have a large budget so we focused on the tables. I found these really cute faux moss covered rocks at the dollar store and bought a whole case. I then rented several apothecary jars and filled them with the rocks. I also filled vases with moss and placed bird houses in them. For the flower arrangements we used blue mason Jars.

The setting was outdoors overlooking the Columbia River at the Oregon Gorge, the reception took place in a log cabin type tabernacle with an amazing ceiling. The beauty of the out doors was visible from every one of the 26 windows.

One of my favorite tricks to save money is to use the bride bouquets facing outward to the reception at the head table. This gives the appearance of centerpieces and utilizes the same flowers for the reception as well as the ceremony. cutting down on costs.

I filled out the decorations on the head table with nature vignettes using topiaries, feathers and vases with greenery.

The men wore suits with plaid ties and the woman wore olive green dresses with bronze necklaces with birds on them. The bride wore a dress that she bought from the fashion show I worked on last year. The proceeds went to rescue young people from sexual slavery. More pictures coming soon....

Noah's Ark Themed Baby Shower

Baby showers are so important for helping the mom to be feel special and loved. Welcoming a new baby into the home is a stressful time. Its nice to kick back and have close family and friends pamper you and bring you lots of the things you'll need for the new arrival. I helped plan a Noahs ark baby shower for a friend. who's baby to be was going to be a boy. the best part about this theme was that they planned on naming him Noah. I was asked to handle the decorations. I painted a huge mural as the back drop for the photo booth.  the animals were detachable so that they could be used to decorate the nursery. wall behind the crib.

 

We had a scrap booking station set up at the table next to the photo booth so guests could write well wishes and make a page for the scrap book. We supplied paper, pens and lots of animal stickers. We printed out the photos  right there so at the end of the shower the mom to be had a scrap book to show her husband.

 
 
 

The food was an amazing multicultural experience. The mom to be was Filipino and from Hawaii so we enjoyed the mix plate.

My Favorite part about this theme. The cake was gorgeous!! we added the animals to it after the baker decorated it.

We made the main area festive. The children enjoed playing with the balloons.
